The inviolable rule of the artwork

The Protocol
of One Thousand.

A public commitment by the artist to protect the limit, identity and final completion of AILOVO.

Read the protocol ↓

The declaration

Not an unlimited series.
One artwork in a thousand lives.

Every AILOVO is an unrepeatable part of the complete work. Through this Protocol, Mauro Borella publicly undertakes to preserve the principles that define its identity.

01

One artwork

AILOVO is one artwork unfolding through one thousand individually created presences.

02

An absolute limit

Exactly 1,000 will be born. Number 1000 will complete the artwork forever.

03

Ten years

Time is not a production schedule. It is one of the invisible materials of the work.

04

One identity

Every AILOVO receives an unrepeatable number from 0001 to 1000.

05

The archive

Every birth, certificate and provenance will be permanently recorded.

06

The guardian

Each work is entrusted to someone who continues its story and protects its identity.

07

The return to its origin

AILOVO is not shipped. Each piece is privately presented and personally entrusted to its Guardian in Venice, where the artwork originated. The presentation and entrustment are integral parts of the artwork and the Protocol of One Thousand. Travel and accommodation are the Guardian’s responsibility.

The final act

After
the thousandth.

Immediately after AILOVO 1000 is born, the original moulds will be signed, dated and permanently sealed. The act will be filmed, witnessed and preserved in the official archive.

The sealed moulds will become the final installation of the artwork: physical proof that no other AILOVO belonging to the same work can ever be created.

“From these moulds, one thousand lives were born.
From this day, no others will ever be.”

The artist’s pledge

AILOVO does not wish to exist forever.
It wishes to leave something that will remain forever.

Signed and dated by Mauro Borella, creator of AILOVO.
